I'm the same way with thinking about how Renee felt when Jack was wheeled away, as well as her not being able to realize that Jack's going to be okay- that KILLED me.
And you did a really great job with Kim, so don't worry. I totally understand the fear of wanting to write the characters well and not screw them up, but in all the fics of yours that I've read, you've always done such a great job of writing them and keeping them in character.
