Shipper meme!!!

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] irony_rocks, who is actually doing it correctly and going day by day. I don’t have the commitment to do that, so here it is, all in one shot.

Day 01 - What is your current favorite ship? I guess Matt and Harriet on Studio 60? There are 800 reasons why I shouldn’t love them, but I do. They’re selfish, dysfunctional, immature, ridiculous, and incapable of acting like adult humans for more than ten seconds at a time. I should want to bitch slap them into orbit. But they are like fucking puppies and I adore them.
Day 02 - What was your very first ship? Luke and Laura on General Hospital. No really. They were epic:) And so hot they once did in on the landing because they couldn’t make it all the way upstairs. Plus I’m a pathetic sucker for “OMG I thought you were dead but you’re not!” Hee!
Day 03 - A pairing that needs to happen now? Pass. I don’t watch enough TV or movies to have one.
Day 04 - The pairing with the most chemistry? Flergh. Really Jack and Renee on 24, but I’m gonna give it to Mulder and Scully because they had so much more time to play it and were less distracted by the omnipresent need to save the world. Plus let’s face it. David and Gillian could do more with one glance than most actors can do with 78 pages of dialogue. But then again, so can Kiefer and Annie, and they’re superior actors (at least to DD – geez). GAH. I don’t know.
Day 05 - The pairing with the least chemistry? Monica and Chandler on Friends. Ew?
Day 06 - The best kiss? Jack and Renee in 8x17. He’s so into it you can hear him breathing into her mouth, for the love of all things so fucking hot I could die of hotness.
Day 07 - The most heartbreaking scene? Duh. The entire Renee gets shot/taxis to the hospital bleeding out in Jack’s arms/dies sequence in 8x17. I still have flashbacks. Ugh.
Day 08 - The pairing with the most baggage? Jack and Renee.
Day 09 - The most believable relationship? Elliot and Nancy on Thirtysomething. Patricia Wettig and Tim Busfield are so good they often made me wiggle uncomfortably in my seat with the raw honesty they put onscreen. I’ve never seen marriage portrayed better.
Day 10 - Why aren’t these two married in real life? I don’t ship people in RL. Ever.
Day 11 - What is your dream pairing? See Day 03.
Day 12 - Who had the best wedding? I really hate TV/movie weddings, but I squeed like an idiotic thing that squees when the Captain and Maria got married in The Sound of Music.
Day 13 - What is your favorite television pairing? Jack and Renee.
Day 14 - What is your favorite book pairing? Oh wow. Hard one. Tie between Heathcliff and Cathy in Wuthering Heights and Victor and Pam in The Winds of War/War and Remembrance. Oh frak. But Elizabeth and Darcy! English majors are bound to fail at this question.
Day 15 - What is your favorite real life pairing? See Day 10, but I am impressed that Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig are still married.
Day 16 - What is the absolute worst pairing? Riker and Troi and Star Trek: TNG. So many levels of yuck. She chose Riker over Worf? And they are in a bath together in one of the movies. Where is that brain bleach when you need it?
Day 17 - A pairing you thought would never work out, but did? Fred and Wesley on Angel. I had almost given up, but they finally got together. You know, right before . . . oh J hasn’t seen it yet. Shutting up.
Day 18 - What is the cutest pairing? I’ve got to go with Matt and Harriet right now. I don’t usually refer to couples as puppies. But seriously. They are puppies. The cutest puppies ever.
Day 19 - A pairing you’ve rooted for since the beginning? Mulder and Scully. It didn’t even take an episode for me to want them together. Well, and ditto Jack and Renee. He turned around in the courtroom in 7x01, and I was already swooning. God, I’m easy.
Day 20 - The ‘can’t stand the sexual tension anymore’ pairing? David and Maddie on Moonlighting. [livejournal.com profile] dealan311 has a hilarious riff on why the Moonlighting curse is bullshit even though the show sucked once they boinked, but dude. Until they did, sometimes watching that show was enough to make me scale a wall and hang from the ceiling just to find some diversion.
Day 21 - A pairing you like and no one else understands why? I . . . can't think of one!
Day 22 - A pairing you hate and no one else understands why? Any pairing on Friends? Because I hate Friends. With the passion of a thousand fiery hells.
Day 23 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out great? Angel/Buffy/Spike on Buffy/Angel. Buffy has the distinction of being the only character ever I could ship with two different people.
Day 24 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out badly? Sonny/Brenda/Jax on General Hospital. And apparently Vanessa Marcil wtfever her new last name is is coming back so they can start all over? Thank god I don’t watch soaps anymore.
Day 25 - A pairing that was/would-be adorable, but could never work out? Willow and Oz on Buffy. They were so ridiculously adorable until Willow woke up gay. My dislike for Willow and Tara, however, had nothing to do with the lesbian angle. I thought that part was super cool. I just thought Tara was a simpering loser, and she made me miss Oz more than I already did. Thank god Willow got a cool girlfriend in the final season. Kennedy rocked.
Day 26 - A pairing that you hated and ended up loving? Buffy and Spike. At first I was like, waaaaaaaaa? Then about ten minutes later I was all, “Huh.” Then about fifteen minutes later I was all *THUD.* I don’t normally go for sex mixed with violence, but apparently I break all my own rules when watching Buffy and/or Angel.
Day 27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating? Ross and Rachel on Friends. Just, ugh.
Day 28 - A pairing that you will never understand? Snape from Harry Potter paired with anyone or anything. I love the man, but really? I mean he hits my altruism kink so hard it hurts, and it doesn’t get much shippier than his lifelong love for Lily Potter. But unless you’re into necrophilia, which is notsomuch my thing, Snape needs to be alone.
Day 29 - What ship had the best proposal? Winter and Alex in M. M. Kay’s Shadow of the Moon. I’m probably the only person who even knows what I’m talking about. But for a sweeping historical romance novel, that proposal undercut every last expectation in the most spectacular way possible, and I adore it so hard.
Day 30 - Your favorite ship forever and ever and ever! Jack and Renee. They’re hotter than fuck, spend every second trying to outdo one another in the altruism Olympics, and manage to be as badass as it gets without ever being hard on the inside. Plus, no matter what you want to say about the badness of S8 (and fuck me there’s a lot to say), almost every action Jack took that season was for Renee, and it doesn’t get shippier or more epic than that. Every kink I have (and a few I didn’t even know I had), they smacked it. They smack it ever time I watch, and they’ll keep smacking it forever and ever, world without end.

Okay that was long. Perhaps there is a reason it's supposed to go day-by-day;)
