FRIENDS ONLY

I thought I should include an entry to indicate that most of the stuff in my journal is friends-locked and explain a little bit about that. Fic and some fannish stuff is the exception. A couple thoughts on why you may or may not want to friend me:

Things I love:
My kids. My family. My friends.
Insane liberals
Kiefer Sutherland and almost everything about 24 until the end of 8x17;)
BSG
Books, words, and ideas
Writing fanfic
Irony and sarcasm
Laughing at idiocy
Intelligent, respectful debate
Learning about anything and everything I'll never have the opportunity to experience myself
Profanity

Things I hate:
Actual embodied evil from below the lowest rung of hell, Donald Trump
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and everyone like them. No, seriously. If you fangirl Ann Coulter, we are probably not a good LJ matchup.
The NRA
Republicans who want to sink Obama's legislation just to watch him fail
Intolerance
Nationalism
Fundamentalism
Materialism

I may edit this as I think of others. If you want to friend me, comment on this entry and it's likely that I'll friend you back. I do like to know something about the people on my friends list, so give me a hint as to what you think we have in common:)

Well you're ahead of a lot of people who friend on LJ and don't even comment in the Friends Only post! Hehe. So there you go! Yes, I'm assuming I know who you are because your 'anonymous' has a unique voice.

And of course we share an unhealthy love of Kiefer Sutherland and all things Jack/Renee (still -- woe!).

Intolerance blows, even though I can be ridiculously intolerant. I try to admit my own hypocrisy and correct the problem. You're making me want more coffee even though it's almost 4 here. LOL. Btw, are you new to LJ then, in the sense of having a real account?

Hah. I'm not sure what to think about the fact that my 'anonymous' has a unique voice. On one hand it's kinda cool, but on the other it's a little creepy. (Or perhaps it's that little "notice" I just saw saying you log IP addresses? Brilliant one, here. ;) ) Ah, gotta love ambiguity. But thanks for friending me back! :) I look forward to reading other f-locked posts like the one I just saw entitled, "When I don't know what to think, I think about Jack naked." He he he he. ::cue maniacal raunchy laughter::

And yes, well - as far as being new to lj goes. I had an account years and years ago on which I posted about a dozen times, then basically forgot lj existed until this year during my massive quest for Jack/Renee fic (sigh). So for all intents and purposes, I feel new. (He he...I'm making myself chuckle with dirty innuendo trains of thought stemming from the way I'm talking about this. He he.)

Aaanyway...before I dig myself into a deeper conversational hole, I'ma go and read that post about Jack's nakedness.

Well, shit! You know I can't write fic!!! I feel like such a lame-ass for whining and complaining about said lack of fic myself, but I just don't know what the f I can do about it! :( SIGH.

But I DID leave you a little prompty-thing in that post about Jack's nakedness. ;)

QUESTION. I seriously want to know. Is there anything non-fic writers like myself DO to help-encourage-support-cheerlead-resource-prompt-discuss-enable-whatever those of you who actually CAN produce fic? I feel a little bit like the super untalented kid offering to be the waterboy for all the cool jocks, but seriously - if there was anything I could do to help, well...I'd try. (But if there's not, no biggie. :) )

No no no! I wasn't saying you needed to do it! I was more wondering why so few people seem to be doing it. Maybe it's all over in what I fondly refer to as "The Pit" or ff.net. Yeah I said that in an open post. Now everybody can hate on me.

And you're too awesome to want to enable those of us who do aspire to write more Jack/Renee fic! Mostly encouragement and cool ideas help. I'm a huge sucker for music, so if you hear a song that reminds you of them or something, let me know. That's the kind of thing that will get my muse going like crazy!

Hey, hey? Can I be all weird and respond to this? Yes, as in respond to someone else's friend post-y thingie? Here I go.

So I'm TOTALLY curious as to why you refer to ff.net as "The Pit." I can probably guess...and granted, a lot of the stuff on there BLOWS (and cannot be compared to even existing on the same planet as half the stuff I've found on here), but I've also come across quite a few lovely pieces, as well.

Does this seem argumentative? Cause it totally isn't supposed to. I'm fo serious just completely curious about your thoughts on ff.net! That is, if you're willing to share & don't want to tell my nosy self to eff off. :)

LOL! I forget about my 'friends only' post half the time, even though it's the first thing that comes up in my journal.

Actually *risks being defriended by everyone on LJ*, lots of people refer to ff.net at "The Pit." I didn't coin the phrase myself at all. I don't by a long shot claim to speak for everyone who uses that term. For me, it's because if I go to ff.net and search 24 stories, I might have to wade through three pages of stuff about Jack and Chloe (or god, Jack and Ramon) before I even find a Jack and Renee story. And even then, that Jack and Renee story might be pretty terrible.

However, I'm sure you're right that there are plenty of lovely stories over at ff.net. There's kind of a recathon going on at het_reccers right now, and many of the fics recced there are linked to ff.net. Again, speaking only for myself, I find that I'm not willing to wade through everything there in order to find the few stories that I would probably want to read. I don't have that kind of time. I hope that made sense!

Also, feel free to be argumentative in my journal, not that this was argumentative at all. Unless you're going to say something bad about Renee, which I know would be highly unlikely, coming from you;)
